Description

Teeter EP-960 and EP-970 comparisonWhat is the difference between the Teeter EP-970 and the EP-960?

The first question many are likely to have when looking at the Teeter 970 Ltd inversion table is what makes the 970 different from the lower priced EP-960 Ltd.

At first glance the tables look almost identical and they pretty much are.

The main difference between the 970 and 960 is in fact, the updated deluxe EZ-Reach ankle system.

As you can see from the image to the right. Rather than opting for the same EZ Reach system used on the 960 model, the Teeter 970 features a longer smooth ratcheting handle. The updated deluxe handle completely removes the need for excessive bending of the spine when securing the ankles, making it an improvement on the already excellent EP-960.

So is this addition worth the extra cash? The answer to this really depends on how much you think the updated system may benefit you.

For many it would appear that the EZ Reach system on the EP-960 is completely adequate, since it already reduces the amount of strain put upon the back significantly.

This is especially true when it is compared to other models that simply feature a spring pin style device such as on the EP-560 from Teeter. On models such as the 560 you need to bend all the way down to secure your ankles, so the 960 and 970 are certainly improvements to avoid straining your back.

If you would completely like to negate the strain put on your back when bending down the EP-970 is probably a worthwhile consideration. However, if you are looking to save a bit of money the EP-960 is an equally good choice and the previous EZ Reach system should be perfect for most.

The Features and specifications of the Teeter EP-970

As mentioned earlier the EP-970 is almost identical to the 960 model so you may wish to also take a look at the 960 product description here.

The EP-970 is able to hold up to 300 lbs in weight and is suitable for anyone between the heights of 4 ft 8″ to 6 ft 6″.

Just like all other inversion tables made by Teeter the 970 comes complete with a 5 year warranty from Teeter which covers all components. It is also FDA cleared as a class 1 medical device to treat conditions and symptoms of back pain. In addition to this Teeter inversion tables are UL listed ensuring Teeter tables have been built to meet the highest in quality standards. If you would like to find out a little more about the UL testing carried out on Teeter inversion tables you can do so here on our guide to inversion tables.

Much like the EP-960 the 970 model features stretch max handles which provide a extra long gripping surface on each side of the frame. The extra long handles make the 970 suitable for those just starting out, helping to provide extra assistance while inverting. They also add additional stretching options for those who are more experienced.

The EZ-Stretch traction handles also provide more stretching options and offer increased decompression options to the user. They can also be used to create rhythmic traction decompression, by applying pressure upon them for short bursts of time.

The ComforTrak bed featured on Teeter inversion tables also allows for further stretching options and makes Teeter tables highly customizable. The table backrest features hand grips for stretching on the sides and at the top, while the additional slots around the backrest allow for the addition of the lumbar bridge and acupressure nodes (Read more about these below).

Teeter inversion tables also feature precision balancing making them very easy to use. Simply by moving your arms up and down you can control the smooth motion and rotation of the table. The precision balance also makes fully inverting easy and safe as it allows for secure lockout when in full inversion, making it ideal for doing sit ups and other stretching exercises.

Additional extras included in the Ltd Package

Teeter 970 LTD Inversion TableSince this package is the EP-970 Ltd inversion table it comes with the Lumbar bridge and acupressure nodes included.

In the picture to the right you can see the 8 colorful acupressure nodes that vary in height. The nodes are designed to offer various intensities of pressure point relief and they provide more focused back pain relief while inverting.

The acupressure nodes can be positioned in a variety of areas along the thinner slots in the backrest. Therefore users can order the nodes anywhere on the table to suit their personal preference. When placed upon the table the user can also move their body around the nodes to mimic the feeling of a shiatsu style massage.

The lumbar bridge support can be added to the table to provide additional support and decompression to the lower back area. The backrest features numerous slots where the bridge can be placed and adjusted allowing for a larger or lesser protrusion if required. As you can see on the image to the right you can also add the acupressure nodes onto the lumbar bridge support.

In Summary

The EP-970 is a great addition to the Teeter range. As is always to be expected with all Teeter inversion tables the reviews are very good from both critics and buyers. Although as mentioned earlier, if the updated EZ reach handle isn’t something you are particularly fussed about then the EP-960 will save you a bit of cash and give you a fairly similar experience.
